Governors, alongside the school and Team Lanesend, develop what the future of the school should be, help develop the plan and then support the Headteacher in implementing it.
The role of the Local Governing Board is a strategic one; its key functions are to:
• set the aims and objectives for the school • set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives • set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives • monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives • be a source of challenge and support to the Headteacher (a critical friend)
Here at Lanesend the Local Governing Board meet as a full group on a Wednesday evening once every half term. Each Governor belongs to at least one Commissioning Group (see below) which also meets two weeks before every Local Governing Board meeting. These groups enable different areas of the school to be examined in more detail.
