If your child reaches 4 years of age before September the 1st then you can enroll them to start Primary School. To do this you need to contact the Local Authority (LA) and ensure that your admission form reaches them by their deadline date.
During the Spring Term prior to the September new school year, you will receive notification from the Local Authority about the school place your child has been allocated. Following this, we will write to you and explain about our induction sessions for all of the new Reception class children.
Before the end of July all of the children will be invited in for a series of sessions to allow them to become familiar with the school, the rest of the class and the adults that will be working with them. During this time we will also hold family information sessions where we can talk about the school and answer any concerns or queries that you may have.

In-year application process for admission applications between 1st September 2023 and 31st August 2024
If parents would like their child to transfer to Lanesend Primary School, their first step is to complete an in-year admission application form online via the Local Authority. The Local Authority will then email the application to us. If we have space in the requested year group, then a place will be allocated and if we do not have a space, the child will be added to our waiting list. We will inform the Local Authority regarding our decision and they will then send a formal confirmation letter to parents. The key contact regarding admissions in school is Andrea Flux, Family Liaison Officer.
We use the following criteria to determine places on our waiting list:
1. Children who are in the care of a local authority or children who have previously been in care but immediately after being in care became subject to an adoption, residence or special guardianship order1 ; The school will admit Children in Care (CIC) who have been excluded from other schools so that the risk of a break in education or placement breakdown is minimised.
2. Children with a specific medical condition, confirmed by a consultant paediatrician or similar health professional, which makes Lanesend Primary School the most appropriate school for them. Any application for a place at Lanesend Primary School for medical reasons must be supported by independent evidence supplied at the time of application by two consultant paediatricians confirming the reasons why we can support the medical needs of the child over another school. An explanation of why attendance at Lanesend Primary School is essential or that Lanesend Primary School is most suitable and the difficulties that would be caused if the child had to attend another school must also be provided.
3. Children who have a sibling (including a half-sibling or step-sibling) on roll at Lanesend Primary School at the time of application.
4. Children of Lanesend Primary School staff in either or both of the following circumstances: a) where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, and/or b) the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
5. Children for whom the school is the closest primary school to their home address at the time of application.
6. Children for whom the school is not the closest primary school to their home address at the time of application.
