School Trips

At Lanesend Primary we believe every child should experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development. These are often the most memorable enrichment learning experiences, helping us to make sense of the world around us by making links between feelings and learning. They allow us to transfer learning experienced outside the classroom and vice versa.

Each year Lanesend Primary will arrange a number of educational visits and activities to support learning across a variety of curriculum areas, and to broaden their experiences generally. Our trips will vary in cost, including free or subsidised where we can. We will always try our best to give as much notice as possible so that costs can be spread.

During the year, we currently have a 10 week swimming programme for Years 1, 2 and 3.

Each year our Year 5 classes take part in fun-filled water sports activities with UKSA. These water sport sessions give our children confidence in the water with the opportunity to learn to sail, paddleboard, windsurf, kayak and more.

Here are some examples of our recent trips.

Year 4 attended Little Canada for 2 nights and 3 days, where every child was given the opportunity to accomplish activities such as climbing towers, abseil walls, zip wires – everything to excite, inspire and build confidence for our pupils. Our Year 6's visited France where they tried French delicacies and experienced the culture of another country.

Some of our younger years visited our local library for literacy enrichment, local parks to coincide with our Geography topics and and our local maritime history and dockyards to support our History and Maritime heritage here in Cowes.
