I have been Headteacher here at Lanesend for 13 years, previous to this I was Headteacher at another local school on the Island and before that I spent 10 years in schools in Kent. Teaching has always been my first passion although upon leaving school I moved to London, to Kent, to Hong Kong, back to England, with a bit of travelling in between, experiencing a range of jobs from secretary to teaching English as a foreign language.
My desire to become a Headteacher was a belief that children needed the best experience growing up not only in learning, but in fun too!. I still strongly believe that children are all individuals, all needing an individual learning journey and work very hard to make a difference to each child.
My mantra is the story of the starfish where a person is walking along a beach covered with starfish just as the sun is about to rise. He meets another person picking up the starfish and putting them back in the water, the person asks why they are wasting their time picking up the starfish as the sun is just about to rise. He replies " If i can make a difference to one, then the time was worth giving".
If I can make a difference to just one child then my time was worth giving.
I am a mum of 2 children who are grown up, but I see every child who I have ever taught as one of my children too.

Each day at Lanesend is filled with learning, laughter and lots and lots of smiles! This is my third year working at Lanesend as our Family Liaison Officer. My aim is to make a positive difference to children and their families every day. This includes promoting outstanding levels of attendance, sharing strategies and supporting wellbeing in our community.
Before joining Lanesend, I was a Governor at two local schools for 10 years. Some of my previous job roles were in retail, customer relations and banking. Currently I am a staff Governor at Lanesend and belong to the Child Centred Group, which focuses on pupil wellbeing and safeguarding. I also have two children and three step children.
Our families support our school each year through various fundraising events such as our Lanesend Festival, Christmas Fayre and Cake Sales. I am proud to be part of each and every one of our children’s journey through Lanesend. I love making memories, helping the children feel safe and most importantly we have fun!

I moved to Cowes in 2000 and both my wife and I work on the Island. I trained as a Chartered Surveyor, practiced for 5 years before moving into sales and marketing, more recently in the marine industry, allowing me to enjoy working in the leisure industry.
My Daughter and Son are both at Lanesend in Year 5 and Year 2, Maeve joining the school when it moved to the current site. My wife and I both identified that the passionate staff at Lanesend would provide a fantastic learning environment for our children, coupled with endless opportunities to grow and develop their learning. We still feel this same passion for the school and I have joined as a governor to help contribute in any way I can to help keep developing the school, staff and children to be the fantastic learning environment that it is and deserves.

I moved to the UK over 20 years ago and made this beautiful island my home.
My youngest daughter is at Lanesend Primary and she enjoys the opportunities that the school gives her.
I am a qualified accountant and have been in the finance sector since 2003. In my present role some of my key activities, that are relevant to the role of a trustee, are financial management, budgeting and education funding. I believe my knowledge and experience makes me well placed to support the school and I hope I can make a difference.
Role: Chair of Trustees

We moved to the island 4 years ago having lived SW France for 11 years. Prior to that we lived in Suffolk. I was a PE teacher but for the last twelve years I was a Secondary School Headteacher, first in Colchester and then in Suffolk itself. I am very much into sport and at one stage was the Manager of England U18 men’s hockey team. Now I play golf, sing in a local choir and volunteer at the IW Steam Railway. I have a grandson in Year 5 and a grand daughter in Year 1. I am very impressed with Lanesend and hope that in some small way I can help the school to develop further.

My three children are at Lanesend and it’s amazing to see them blossoming and their interests in the world around them developing as the school continually expands their horizons. I think there’s definitely some magic in the air at Lanesend, mainly because of all the people involved in the school, and my family and I are proud to be part of our wonderful, caring school.
I joined as a parent trustee once all the children were settled at school and I had a bit more time and opportunity to get involved. I am passionate about Lanesend and want to contribute all I can to support our lovely school continue improving and developing opportunities for amazing learning for all Lanesend children.
My working background is 10 years in transport planning and 10 years in health and safety risk management so I can transfer the skills gained throughout my career to assist with governing the school.

I moved to the Island from Cornwall 8 years ago when I met my wife who has lived on the island her whole life and attended the original school Somerton middle before it became Lanesend. I love the island for the beautiful country side, friendly people and a great place to raise a family.
I have 3 children aged 6, 5 and 2 with the older 2 at Lanesend in years 2 and R. I feel being a governor I can support their education further at the school and help the school grow and continue to succeed in all they do.
I work as an ICT Facilitator and site manager in another school on the island so bring great experience and knowledge in many things. I have a passion for computing and love teaching programming and how computers work to children.
