On Wednesday 3rd of July Lanesend Primary School held their annual Race for Life event. Children from ages 5 to 11 years took part in the route created around the school grounds. The children that took part were raising money for Cancer Research.
Donations were given for wearing pink and sportswear for the day. Pink hearts were located around the classrooms as well for spare change and donations. A cake sale was also held at the end of the school day with cake donations from parents, children and staff.
At the end of the run, every child received a medal and a well earned ice pop. The children also wrote memory notes which were displayed around the school grounds, celebrating loved ones who have battled cancer. This is something that we are going to continue in school on a permanent basis so that both children and staff can share their thoughts and memories.
It was a wonderful parent led event with local businesses helping and donating too. The total so far amounts to £667.88, this however does not include the sponsor money which is still on its way.
