Only three weeks into our learning journey at big school and Reception have already been on their first school trip.
Cowes Library kindly invited us to a Dr Seuss event put on especially for local school children and it was an offer we couldn't turn down. We spent the morning watching an enthralling version of The Cat in the Hat, told using props, puppets, instruments and songs and introducing the children to a well-loved classic story. There were lots of opportunities to learn about rhyming, as well as join in with drawing pictures, making our own 'thing 1, thing 2 and thing 3' on our fingers and singing brand new songs. The children loved it and are very keen to visit again soon.
A big thank you to IWLFSCHOOLS organisers who commissioned the event as part of the Isle of Wight Literary Festival schools programme, with funding from Cowes Town Council. Also, a big thank you to the Cowes Library staff who hosted. It was a memorable first school trip.
