Noel Turner Science Festival 2022

The aim of the Noel  Turner Science Festival is to spark curiosity and raise understanding and awareness of the practical applications of STEM.

Research shows that children’s interest in science reduces as they get older. The festival investigated whether children’s perceptions of science and scientists differ based on their gender and socio-economic status, and also explored whether children’s views on science and scientists change after attending the Noel Turner Science Festival so that it can be improved in future years.

The children were also asked to draw a scientist, and answer a series of questions about their perceptions of science and scientists, their interest in science, qualities of scientists and of themselves.

They were able to explore the exhibition halls where they could interact with and take part in hands-on activities run by local scientists and people from the STEM industry.
